How to Download Your Chase Bank CSV
Chase is one of the easiest US banks for exporting transaction data. Their CSV export covers up to 7 years of history and includes all checking, savings, and credit card accounts.
Step 1: Log In to chase.com
Go to chase.com and sign in with your username and password. You can also use the Chase mobile app, but the CSV export is only available on the desktop site.
Step 2: Open the Account You Want to Export
From the dashboard, click on the checking or savings account you want to import into PennyRa. For credit cards, select the card account from the left panel.
Step 3: Find the Download Button
Once inside the account, look for the download icon (↓) near the transaction list — usually in the top-right area of the activity section. Click it to open the export options.
Step 4: Select CSV Format and Date Range
Choose CSV as the file format (not OFX or QFX, which are for Quicken/QuickBooks). Select your date range — Chase allows up to 7 years. For your first import, 90 days is a good starting point.
Step 5: Upload to PennyRa
Go to PennyRa → CSV Import, upload the downloaded file. PennyRa auto-detects Chase's format (Type, Trans Date, Post Date, Description, Amount) and categorizes transactions instantly.
Tips for Best Results
- Export one account at a time — checking, savings, and credit cards are separate exports in Chase
- Do not open the CSV in Excel and re-save it before uploading — this can corrupt the date formatting
- For ongoing tracking, re-export monthly and PennyRa will skip duplicate transactions automatically
Which Chase Accounts Are Supported?
PennyRa imports CSV exports from Chase Total Checking, Chase Savings, Chase Freedom, Chase Sapphire, Chase Ink, and all other personal and business Chase accounts. The format is identical across all account types.
